Complimentary Tickets to Antiques Fairs

Penman Antiques Fairs have kindly offered us complimentary tickets to their antiques fairs, the first is next weekend, the other is at Petersfield, Hampshire, 6th - 8th February.

At Kensington a collection of rare, original Hollywood movie posters from the golden era of silent films will be going on sale for the first time. The fair also features more than fifty specialist dealers from across Britain, offering a broad range of antiques and decorative pieces with a strong emphasis on individual style and design with particular appeal to collectors of rare and traditional antiques. Prices will range from less than £50 to more than £25,000 with plenty of inexpensive objets d'art and collector's pieces at less than £300.

The traditional fair at Petersfield is now celebrating its 30th year, it is always a very well attended event offering top quality antiques at a relaxed and friendly venue. Un-pretentious, but very high quality, both exhibitors and visitors enjoy meeting like-minded friends in a congenial atmosphere.

We'd like to wish everyone a Very Happy New Year!
Please don't forget that we are seeking USED POSTAGE STAMPS. And as we all return to the office next week there will surely be loads of mail to be opened and before discarding the envelopes please tear off the old stamps and save them in a safe place for us. The Childrens Hospice Southwest can turn these stamps into valuable revenue and we need as many as possible for them, the more varied the better, even those from abroad. So please pass this message around the office and tell family and friends to help.

Urgently Needed – Not Much Effort Required!

Our campaign has no targets, but we aim to exceed our expectations and those of all our supporters.

The Ground Work…
We want to create a network of collection points, just about anywhere that can receive on our behalf and forward to us or direct to CHSW, any of the following items that can be sent for recycling:

Printer ink cartridges.
Old mobile phones.
Used postage stamps.

We also need old costume jewellery of any description, even damaged is acceptable. So far CHSW have managed to raise over £50,000 from donations of this kind by selling them at coffee mornings and fairs etc.

Also a very important asset to any charity is a coin collection box, literally every penny helps. PLEASE, if you have a retail outlet can you place a box for us in your premises? We will arrange delivery of an empty one to you and when full simply contact us by a quick phone call or email and we’ll swap it for another empty one. In return you’ll receive a certificate direct from the Hospice confirming how much you have collected.

If you have a shop we'll produce an A4 window poster advertising the items you are accepting as a collection point, who knows it may just get new customers through your door!

To support our Challenge this webpage will serve to keep everyone up to date with our progress and provide reports of those who have joined our list of helpers, we will also maintain a list of supporters with weblinks on this page beyond the end of 2009. We would also like to encourage our supporters to input their own information and pictures, a great way we hope for a little self-promotion about their business and to serve as our way of thanks for their fantastic efforts.
